1. Introduction
At Changes for Stammerers Ltd we are committed to ensuring the safety, well-being, and dignity of all participants attending our courses for adults who stammer. Our goal is to foster a supportive, inclusive, and respectful environment where every participant feels comfortable and valued. This safeguarding policy outlines our approach to protecting adults from harm and maintaining a safe space for personal growth and communication.
As the business owner, Heidi Bristow also serves as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and holds a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
2. Purpose and Scope
This policy applies to all interactions within our courses, including in-person sessions held at hotel conference rooms and any follow-up support provided via phone, WhatsApp video calls, or group discussions. It applies to all participants and any third parties involved in the delivery of our services.
We are dedicated to creating an environment where participants can openly express themselves without fear of judgment or discrimination. We recognize our responsibility to respond appropriately to any safeguarding concerns and ensure individuals feel safe and supported.

If you have a safeguarding concern or witness behaviour that may indicate harm, you are encouraged to report it. As the DSL, Heidi Bristow will respond to all concerns in a timely and appropriate manner. Where necessary, external safeguarding authorities may be contacted.
5. Confidentiality and Data Protection
All safeguarding concerns will be handled with sensitivity and confidentiality. Information will only be shared on a need-to-know basis in line with our Privacy Policy and GDPR obligations. We are committed to protecting the personal data of all participants.

If you are concerned that an adult is at risk, report it immediately. We all have a responsibility to report concerns.
The DSL will speak to the individual about the concern and keep them informed of how it will be addressed, taking their wishes and beliefs into account wherever possible.
Any safeguarding concerns will be taken seriously and addressed promptly.
