Safeguarding Policy for
Changes for Stammerers Ltd
1. Introduction
At Changes for Stammerers Ltd we are committed to ensuring the safety, well-being, and dignity of all participants attending our courses for adults who stammer. Our goal is to foster a supportive, inclusive, and respectful environment where every participant feels comfortable and valued. This safeguarding policy outlines our approach to protecting adults from harm and maintaining a safe space for personal growth and communication.
As the business owner, Heidi Bristow also serves as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and holds a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
2. Purpose and Scope
This policy applies to all interactions within our courses, including in-person sessions held at hotel conference rooms and any follow-up support provided via phone, WhatsApp video calls, or group discussions. It applies to all participants and any third parties involved in the delivery of our services.
We are dedicated to creating an environment where participants can openly express themselves without fear of judgment or discrimination. We recognize our responsibility to respond appropriately to any safeguarding concerns and ensure individuals feel safe and supported.

To maintain a positive and respectful environment, we expect the following from all participants, volunteers and staff:

- Maintain appropriate boundaries in both in-person and virtual interactions.
- Communicate respectfully and avoid any discriminatory, abusive, or inappropriate language.
- Listen actively and supportively to others.
- Respect the confidentiality and privacy of others.
We encourage participants to share their experiences in a supportive manner and to be mindful of the feelings of others. Disruptive, aggressive, or harmful behavior will not be tolerated.

Safeguarding concerns may include, but are not limited to:
- Emotional or psychological distress

5. Confidentiality and Data Protection
All safeguarding concerns will be handled with sensitivity and confidentiality. Information will only be shared on a need-to-know basis in line with our Privacy Policy and GDPR obligations. We are committed to protecting the personal data of all participants.
