Natural Breathing
At Changes, we teach a Natural Breathing technique based on the natural breathing pattern we are born with.
Over time, many of us develop poor breathing habits through stress, tension, and the demands of everyday life.
Natural Breathing forms the foundation of the Changes approach and is taught through relaxation in a comfortable and supportive environment.
Taught by Heidi who has a diploma in professional relaxation.
What Our members say our technique to help control stammering:
- "I love how calm the technique makes me feel."
- "It's really helped me manage my anxiety."
- "I love using Natural Breathing to help control my speech."
- "I enjoy practicing the technique at the end of a busy day."
- "The benefits go beyond speech. I find the breathing helps me feel more relaxed and in control."
- "Natural Breathing has become part of my everyday routine."
- "I feel more confident approaching speaking situations."
- "The technique feels comfortable and natural to use in everyday life."

At Changes, our courses are intentionally kept small, with a maximum of 8–10 participants.
We believe that smaller groups create a comfortable and supportive environment where people quickly begin to feel at ease. The word "safe" is used a lot on our courses. The close-knit nature of the group means bonds and connections are formed quickly, helping people feel safe to be honest and open about their speech and their experiences.
The smaller group also allows me to get to know each participant as an individual. It means I can recognise where someone may need a little extra support or guidance and tailor my teaching to their individual needs throughout the course. It also gives people the time and space to ask questions or tell me if they haven't fully understood something, so everyone can progress with confidence.
Many people tell me that the friendships, encouragement and support they find within the group continue long after the course has finished.
What makes Changes Different
Our Courses consist of
Small Groups of 8-10 people
What our members say:
- I was a little apprehensive before the course but the small group setting and bonds that quickly formed between us made it a really supportive experience.
- I felt safe to open up because the group was small.
- It was comfortable having space to learn and knowing everybody in the room really quickly.
- It feels like we have know each other for years - but it was only a couple of days.
- I felt that Heidi really saw us all as individuals and was able to meet us where we were personally with our speech.
- The small group setting made me feel welcome and part of the group really quickly.
- I don’t feel confident in large groups - I really enjoyed being part of a small group - it helped my anxiety.
- Because the groups are small - Heidi was able to recognise when I needed extra support or a different approach because of my learning difficulties.
- I prefer being with a group rather than 1:1 - listening to other experiences and relating to other people.
What makes Changes Different
The Same Trainer on Every Course
As mentioned, Changes courses are limited to just 8–10 people. This allows the trainer and facilitator to get to know each person as an individual.
At Changes, you'll have the same trainer on all courses, recap courses and support groups, providing continuity throughout.
Having the same person leading all sessions means they get to know you, and you get to know them too.
This helps create a comfortable and supportive environment where you can ask questions with confidence, knowing you're talking to someone who already knows you well.
That familiarity and continuity is one of Changes' real strengths. You know what to expect each time you attend a course, recap course, support group or Changes event.
